VIBRANT NATURE CAPTURED ON CANVAS:-

Artist Kishore Sahu has showcased a collection of paintings by Rangmaya Kahsitij on nature, in which he has beautifully captured the vast expanse of a jungle with intricate detail.

The artist, 43, hailing from Chattisgarh, painted creeper branches, flowers, falling leaves, and companions such as spiders, bees, and butterflies in his paintings.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the monthlong exhibition was inaugurated by ace theatre personality and Padma Shri awardee Raj Bisaria. It has been curated by Vandana Sehgal principal and dean. faculty of architecture and planning. AKTU.

Sahu has showcased 12 paintings. This is his fourth solo exhibition and has done many group exhibitions in India and abroad besides winning several awards and fellowships.

“I did my masters in fine art from Khairabad University in painting. As a child, I was inspired by plants and trees which is an integral part of my art form. So all my paintings are a wide canvas of landscapes with jungles as a theme with minute detailing of the elements of nature,” the artist says.

He says that on average if he paints for six to eight hours a day then he is able to complete one painting in around 15 days. “Based on life and thoughts, whatever comes to my mind like mountains, jungles, plants, and other elements I paint them. I can be termed a modern landscape artist. My medium is water-based acrylic color and I work in very fine layers. If one observes the paintings minutely then it has some 25-30 layers in every painting,” says the artist, who is showcasing his work for the first time in Lucknow.

The chief guest was impressed with the theme picked by the artist. “We all get attracted to nature and the artist has captured it beautifully. The best thing about art is when it touches your heart.” Bisaria said.

Mesmerised by his work, Sehgal says, “One can see the minute layers of work that he has put in his landscapes. We can say on one hand his work is child-like and at the same time the maturity he shows is truly amazing and that’s what art is all about the depth is mind-blowing.”

The exhibition has been put on display till July 4 at Saraca Art Gallery. Those present on the occasion included Navneet Sehgal, Jayant Krishna, Anita Bhatnagar Jain, Sarvesh Goel, Pankaj Gupta, and Mohd Shakil. Renuka Tandon and Mohsin Qureshi.
